Clik here to view. You’ve come home from a rough workday mentally exhausted, physically fatigued and in need of some major relaxation. Your first thought is to probably take a nice warm shower.
Most Americans take showers rather than baths but taking a bath proves to do more than just cleansing the body. While keeping good hygiene is essential for daily life, bathing also has other health benefits.
So let’s dive in and learn why trading a quick shower for a bath every now and then will do a body good!
Ease your tension
Bathing can help ease built-up tension from your long day. Soaking in the tub will lower your blood pressure and allow the mind to relax.
Your skin will thank you
The steam from your warm bath will open up the pores in your skin and help remove that deep stubborn dirt. Think of it as a free facial! Your skin will feel fresh and rejuvenated.
Sore muscles
If you exercise (especially if you’re a runner) your muscles can feel sore and tight making it hard to get up in the morning and continue your exercise routine. Bathing will help aid blood flow and loosen your muscles.
Flu or headache
Steam acts as a great decongestant if you have a stuffy nose that just won’t go away. You can toss some peppermint tea bags into your bath to help clear your nasal passages. Limit your bath to 10 or 15 minutes and remember not to run the bath too hot!
Lower blood sugar levels
A study published by the New England Journal of Medicine showed that diabetics who spent half an hour soaking in a tub of warm water lowered blood sugar levels by about 13%.
Get rid of toxins
Taking a bath helps in removing harmful toxins from the body. Run your bath at 32-35 degrees Celsius for 10-20 minutes to open pores and flush out toxins or poisons from the body.
Bath Fitter wants you to be as healthy as you can be. So try and swap out at least two showers a week for a bath and take advantage of the health benefits it can do for you. Happy bathing!
